Day 18: Give Me Wisdon to Make Right Decisions

If any of you lacks wisdom,
he should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to him.
- James 1:5
.
Lord, I pray You would give me Your wisdom and understanding in all things. I know wisdom is better than gold and understanding better than silver. (Proverbs 16:16), so make me rich in wisdom and wealthy in understanding. Thank You that You give "wisdom to the wife and knowledge to those who have understanding" (Daniel 2:21). Increase my wisdom and knowledge so I can see Your truth in every situation. Give me discernment for each decision I must make.
.
Lord, help me to always seek godly counsel and not look to the world and ungodly people for answers. Thank You, Lord, that You will give the counsel and instruction I need, even as I sleep. Thank You that "You will show me the path of life" (Psalm 16:7-11).
.
I delight in Your law and in Your Word. Help me to meditate on it day and night, to ponder it, to speak it, to memorize it, to get it into my soul and my heart. Lord, I know that whoever "trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered" (Proverbs 28:26). I don't want to trust my own heart. I want to trust Your Word and Your instruction so that I will walk wisely and never do ignorant or stupid things. Make me to be a wise person.
.
You said in Your Word that You store up sound wisdom for the upright (Proverbs 2:7). Help me to walk uprightly, righteously, and obediently to Your commands. May I never be wise in my own eyes, but may I always fear You. Keep me far from evil so that I can claim the health and strength Your Word promises (Proverbs 3:7-8). Give me the wisdom, knowledge, understanding, direction and discernment I need to keep me away from the plans of evil so that I will walk safely and not stumble (Proverbs 2:10-13). Lord, I know that in You "are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3). Help me to discover those treasures.* In Jesus' name, Amen.
.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For by me your days will be multiplied,
and years of life will be added to you.
- Proverbs 9:10-11
.
Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things,
which you do not know.
- Jeremiah 33:3

Day Ten: His Choices

A wise man will hear and increase learning,
and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.
- Proverbs 1:5
.
Lord, fill my husband with the fear of the Lord and give him wisdom for every decision he makes. May he reverence You and Your ways and seek to know Your truth. Give him discernment to make decisions based on Your revelation. Help him to make godly choices and keep him from doing anything foolish. Take foolishness out of his heart and enable him to quickly recognize error and avoid it. Open his eyes to clearly see the consequences of any anticipated behavior.
.
I pray that he will listen to godly counselors and not be a man who is unteachable. Give him strength to reject the counsel of the ungodly and hear Your council above all others. I declare that although "there are many plans in a man's heart, nevertheless the Lord's counsel - that will stand" (Proverbs 19:21). Instruct him even as he is sleeping (Psalm 16:7^), and in the morning, I pray he will do what's right rather than follow the leading of his own flesh. I know the wisdom of this world is foolishness with You, Lord (I Corinthians 3:19). May he not buy into it, but keep his eyes on You and have ears to hear Your voice.* In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
.
^ I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
- Psalm 16:7
.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
- Proverbs 1:7

Day 29: Seeking Wisdom and Discernment

If any of you lacks wisdom,
let him ask of God,
who gives to all liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given to him.
- James 1:5
.
Lord, I pray that You would give the gifts of wisdom, discernment and revelation to David and Elizabeth. Help them to trust You with all their hearts, not depending on their own understanding, but acknowledging You in all their ways so that they may hear Your clear direction as to which path to take (Proverbs 3:5). Help them to discern good from evil and be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit saying, "This is the way, walk in it" (Isaiah 30:21). I know that much of their happiness in life depends on gaining wisdom and discernment, which You Word says brings long life, wealth, recognition, protection, enjoyment, contentment, and happiness. I want all those things for them, but I want them to come as blessings from You.
.
Your Word says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10). May a healthy fear and knowledge of You be the foundation upon which wisdom and discernment are established in them. May they turn to You for all decisions so that they don't make poor choices. Help them to see that all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in You and that You give them freely when we ask for them. As they seek wisdom and discernment from You, Lord, pour it liberally upon them so that all their paths will be peace and life.* In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

.
Wisdom is the principle thing;
therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.
Exalt her, and she will promote you;
she will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
- Proverbs 4:7-8
.
Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
and the man who gains understanding;
for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver,
and her gain than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies,
and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.
Length of days is in her right hand,
in her left hand riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
and happy are all who retain her.
- Proverbs 3:13-18

Day 19: Enjoying Freedom from Fear

Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
- Isaiah 41:10
.
Lord, Your Word says, "I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears" (Psalm 34:4). I seek You this day, believing that You hear me, and I pray that You will deliver David and Elizabeth from any fear that threatens to overtake them. You said You have "not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (II Timothy 1:7). Flood them with Your love and wash away all fear and doubt. Give them a sense of Your loving presence that far outweighs any fear that would threaten to overtake them. Help them to rely on Your power in such a manner that it establishes strong confidence and faith in You. Give them a mind so sound that they can recognize any false evidence the devil presents to them and identify it as having no basis in reality.
.
Wherever there is real danger or good reason to fear, given David and Elizabeth wisdom, protect them, and draw them close to you. Help them not to deny their fears, but take them to You in prayer and seek deliverance from those fears. I pray that as they draw close to You, Your love will penetrate their lives and crowd out all fear. Plant Your Word in their hearts. Let faith take rot in their minds and souls as they grow in Your Word.
.
Thank you, Lord, for Your promise to deliver us from all our fears. In Jesus' name I pray for freedom from fear on behalf of my child this day. * Amen.
.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
and under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
not of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
- Psalm 91:4-6
.
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
- Psalm 27:1
.
